Requirements on Computer Rooms

 

The computer room environment, power and lightning earth shall meet requirements stated in Code for Engineering Design of  Generic Cabling System for Buildings and Building Complex (CECS 72:97). The design of computer rooms shall meet the following provisions:

 

.All equipment, including the computer host and network connection equipment, in the equipment room shall have sufficient installation space.

.Floorings in the equipment room shall be laid with static-free floors.

.The equipment room shall at least be 150-300cm high from the floor. The height of the door shall be greater than 210cm and the width, greater than 90cm. The average load of the static-free floor shall be greater than 1,000kg/m2. In places that have been installed with generic cabling hardware, the walls and sunshades shall be coated with flame-retardant paint.

.The equipment room shall be completely closed to prevent the intrusion of noxious gases (like SO2, H2S, NH3, NO2) and adopt the favorable dust prevention measures.

.The temperature of the equipment room shall keep at 10-25 and the relative humidity, 60%-80%.

.The equipment room shall be installed with fire-fighting systems as required by the codes and adopt the fire-prevention security doors. At least, the fire wall shall be capable of resisting the fire for one hour.

.The dust in the room shall be less than 0.5μm. Noise in the room when machines are on shall be less than 70dB if measured at the central console.

.The radio interference field intensity in the computer room shall be no greater than 120dB when the frequency ranges from 0.15MHz to 1,000MHz. The internal magnetic field interference field in the computer room shall be no greater than 800A/m.

.The illumination in the computer room shall be 0.8m to the floor and the illumination shall be no lower than 200lx, while in other rooms, the illumination shall be no lower than 5lx. In main passageways and relevant rooms, the illumination can be installed as required, but the illumination shall be 0.8m to the floor and no lower than 1lx.

.The equipment room shall adopt UPS to avoid the interrupted communication in case of power failure. The UPS shall be capable of providing power no shorter than 2h. The power of UPS shall be calculated according to the power of network equipment and have an allowance of 20%-30%. The power equipment in the equipment room shall function in overvoltage and over-current protection to prevent adverse influences and impacts on the equipment.

.The lightning earth can have exclusive earthing or share an earthing electrode with the building. It is required that in earthing, each wiring cabinet shall have a single down-lead to connect with the earth electrode. The value of earth resistance of the protective earthing lead, for the singly-installed earth electrode, shall be no greater than 2Ohm and for the shared, no greater than 1Ohm.

Solutions for Computer Room decoration:

 

In the technical construction of computer room projects, the surface works of the computer room is an important constituent. In the computer room, generally, the static-free raised floors are adopted. The raised floor is dismountable, so it is convenient for the connection of leader cables of all equipment as well as the connection, repair and replacement of pipes. Space under the raised floor can work as the static-pressure blast room. The cold blast from the air conditioner in the computer room will be delivered by the raised floor with the flow-distribution gap to the indoor and cabinets of the heat-radiating equipment. The airflow wind gap floor is interchangeable with the general raised floor, so the distribution of the flow in the computer room can be adjusted freely.

 

The ground surface under the static-free raised floor shall undergo the moisture-protection treatment (like painted with the moisture resisting paint). If the space under the raised floor works as the blast room for the air conditioners in the computer room, then, the surface under the raised floor shall undergo the platform incubation treatment to ensure that in the cold air blast, the surface will have no moisture condensation due to the temperature difference between the ground and the cold blast.

 

Suspended Engineering in the Computer Room

 

The decoration of the ceiling of the machine room mostly adopts the suspended ceilings. The suspended ceiling in the computer room mainly functions in: the space from the suspended ceiling to the roof can work as the static pressure blast or return blast room for the computer room and can be installed with ventilating ducts; installation the fixed lighting instruments, lines, various wind gaps, self-extinguishing sensors; preventing the fall of dust. The computer room shall select the metallic aluminum ceilings. The aluminum plates and their members shall be light, fire-prevention, moisture-protection, noise-absorption, dust-free and dust absorption-free.

 

Wall Face Engineering in the Computer Room

 

The decoration of the interior wall in the computer room aims to protection materials on the wall body, ensure the indoor application conditions and create a comfortable, beautiful and neat environment. The decoration effect of the interior wall is composed of three factors, the sense of quality, line and color. Currently, in the wall decoration of the machine room, the most frequently found is the wall-pasting material (like aluminum plastic board, colored steel plate) facing, featuring as the leveling surface, good pressure-tightness, easy cleaning, dust-free and non-deforming. The base of the face of the wall has been treated by the moisture protection, shielding, heat preservation and heat insulation.

 

Partition Engineering in the Computer Room

 

To ensure that no interior column can be found in the computer room, the long-span structure is often adopted in the computer room. In light of different requirements on the environment from different equipment of the computer system and for the convenience of air conditioning control, dust control, noise control and computer room management, the partition walls are always adopted to divide the space in the computer room into smaller functional areas. The Partition wall shall be light and thin and capable of insulating sound and heat.

 

Exterior doors and windows of the computer room often adopt the security doors and windows, while the interior doors and windows commonly adopt the frame-free large glazed doors, which can ensure the security of the computer room and the bright effect.

 

Power Supply and Distribution in the Computer Room

 

The load in the computer room is commonly designed according to the class-I power supply load. Loads of the computer room fall into the load of primary devices and the load of auxiliary equipment. The load of the primary device refers to the computer and network system, computer peripheral equipment and computer room monitoring system. The power supply and distribution system for this part is called as the equipment power supply and distribution system, which has a demanding requirement on the power supply quality. This system shall adopt the UPS to ensure the stability and reliability of the power supply. The load of the auxiliary equipment refers to air conditioning equipment, power equipment, lighting equipment and testing equipment. The power supply and distribution system for this part is called as the assistant power supply and distribution system, which has the power directly supplied by the local junction circuit.

 

The electric construction in the computer room shall select quality cables, winding slots and sockets. The socket can be divided into the special socket for the local junction circuit, UPS and major equipment and clear signs shall be available. The illumination shall select the high-grade non-glare lighting instruments exclusive for the computer room. The power supply and distribution system in the computer room is the guarantee for the safety operating of the room. Generally, the computer room adopts switch cupboards exclusive for the machine room to normalize the power supply and distribution system of the computer room to ensure the security and reasonability of the power supply and distribution system of the computer room. The computer room commonly adopts the local junction circuit and generator dual-circuit power supply. The generator, as a principal backup dynamic power, has a relatively low operation cost.

 

Air Conditioning and New Exhaust Air System of the Computer Room

 

The mission of the air-conditioning system in the computer room is to ensure the continuous, stable and reliable operation of equipment in the computer room, discharge the heat from equipment and heaters in the computer room, maintain the constant temperature and humidity in the computer room and control the dust in the control computer room. Therefore, it is required that the air-conditioning systems in the computer room shall function in blast, return air, heat, humidification, cooling, dehumidification and air purification. The mission of the air-conditioning system in the computer room is to ensure the continuous, stable and reliable operation of equipment in the computer room, discharge the heat from equipment and heaters in the computer room, maintain the constant temperature and humidity in the computer room and control the dust in the control computer room. Therefore, it is required that the air-conditioning systems in the computer room shall function in blast, return air, heat, humidification, cooling, dehumidification and air purification. The air-conditioning system in the computer room is important for ensuring the favorable computer room environment and shall adopt the constant-temperature precision air-conditioning system.

 

The new exhaust air-system of the computer room has two main functions: firstly, providing sufficient fresh air for the computer room and creating a favorable working environment for working personnel; secondly, maintaining the positive pressure differential compared with the outside of the computer room to avoid the entrance of dust and ensure the preferable cleanness of the computer room.

 

The air flow organization form inside the computer room shall be considered comprehensively combining the requirements on the computer system and the construction conditions. The position of the wind pipe and wind gap of the newt exhaust air system shall match the layout of the air-conditioning system and the interior structure. The blast volume shall be decided according to the amount of blast of the air conditioner.

 

 

Lighting Earth Engineering of the Computer Room

 

The earthing system of the computer room has been involved with various comprehensive information processing projects and is an important content in the construction of the computer room. Whether the earthing system is good or not is crucial for the construction quality of a computer room. Commonly, there are four such earthing means available for the computer room as the AC working earthing, security protection earthing, DC working earthing and lighting protection earthing.

 

 

Two aspects shall be highlighted in the earthing of the computer room:

 

1.   The signaling system and power system, the high-pressure system and low-pressure system shall not adopt the shared earth return circuit.

 

2. The earthing of sensitive circuits shall be isolated or shielded separately to prevent the ground backflow and disturbance due to the electrostatic induction. The earthing of the computer room shall adopt the integrated earthing scheme. The resistance of the integrated earthing shall be no less than 1Ohm.

 

In company with the increasing improvement of the social informatization, the number of computer systems in the computer room is rising. Its environmental units are also increasingly increased. The computer room environment equipment (like the power supply and distribution system, UPS, air conditioner, fire-fighting system, public security system) shall provide a nature operation environment for the computer system. Therefore, the monitoring on the power equipment and environment of the computer room is crucial. The computer room environment and power equipment monitoring system is primarily to perform the real-time monitoring and record of historic data on the running status, temperature, humidity, cleanness, the voltage of power supply, current, frequency, the on-off status of the power distribution system and the leak-hunting system of the computer room equipment (like the power supply and distribution system, UPS, lightning fighter, air conditioner, fire-fighting system, public security door lock system), to realize the telemetry, remote signaling, remote control and remote regulating of the computer room and to provide powerful guarantee for the effective management and security operation of the computer room.

 

 

Gas Fire-control Engineering in the Computer Room

 

The computer room shall be installed with the gas fire-fighting system. The gas cylinder compartment shall be installed outside the computer room and adopt the pipe-network structure. Muzzles shall be installed on the ceiling. The fire warning system shall be composed of the fire-control cabinet, fume sensor and temperature sensor networking.

 

The fire-fighting system in the computer room shall adopt the gas fire-fighting system. The commonly-adopted gas shall be the heptafluoro-propane and SDE.
